A bit ago an online brigade got absolutely outraged when I kept insisting I wasn't a racist. They kept saying "but everyone is informing you you are, stop denying it." Dude, a mob's insistence doesn't determine reality. I'm not a racist. There's a good chance you aren't either.

I'm not a racist. We should fight against this trend of forcing people to admit their racism like it's an original sin. It takes the power out of actual racism and forces a narrative of guilt and shame and submission on people who don't deserve it.

This black/white picture is a pretty simplistic way of looking at racism and partly why we're not making any progress in the fight against it. It's too easy to use this as shield when in reality many of us do things that are subconsciously racist based on our socialization.
