if anyone wants to anticircle sometime id be willing to occupy the same space as you for half an hour and studiously ignore you in polite silence with a relaxed and neutral expression on my face

cause you pay attention to hanging out It's hard to describe. it's a subtle shift in interaction. there's a journey with ppl - after I "properly circle" with them a lot we can keep circling while dropping the rest of it and then do 'hang out circling'. it's hard to describe

its like. there's a way you can walk when you learn how to control your body really well through dancing; the muscles are attuned and different. you can see it in ppl if you know how to look. Circling is the practice of tuning your muscles to just keep walking.

i don't think so. Much like when I learned to dance i didnt know what I didn't know, in circling it's extraordinarily similar - I'm still learning things about interaction I didn't know I didn't know. Circling has been one of the most profoundly useful things in my life.

and also - there is a lot of *very bad* circling out there, and I think a lot (though not all) of people's distaste around it comes from exposure to unskilled circlers. For context I think the majority of rationalists are very bad at circling.
