I don't know a lot about this field - can I get other opinions on this thread? It seems pretty reasonable and optimistic, tho I'm default skeptical of anybody who uses the phrase 'big pharma'. (also h/t

1/ There is growing evidence that T-cell immunity allows populations to reach herd immunity once only 10-20% are infected with SARS-CoV-2. This would explain why a highly transmissible virus in densely populated areas peaked at 10-20% infected regardless of lockdowns or masks.

I was sceptical of 'big pharma' big time in the past. After the story around hcq i'm less so. We still don't know if it works or not (and now possible won't learn ever) but the fuckery around it (especially the lancet article) can be plausibly explained by "big pharma conspiracy"

i do think 'big pharma' is very bad - it's mostly people who allude to it as a malevolent entity that's doing a conspiracy thing makes me more cautious, since that tends to be highly correlated with them also saying inaccurate things
