Not sure what this is supposed to illustrate I am willing to sacrifice for greater equality (so I am a collectivist in that sense) but option 1 means we are all collectively better off option 2 we are all worse off both individually and collectively

People clicking first button aren't thinking of or considering long-term consequences from unfair distribution - or maybe they'd give $1 to $18 person, and then suggest $22 person each give them $1 to not be an asshole - so they each get $20 instead of $18.
