Social shaming around covid seems... complicated to me. On one hand yes spreading the disease is really bad, but on the other hand we don't have the capacity to judge other people's mental health or how much them "partying" might be saving them from great suffering or suicide.

like, obviously there are assholes who don't care, the conspiracy theorists who think it's exaggerated, etc. - but still I mean honestly asking humans to stay so isolated for 7 months without a definite end date is a really fucking intense thing to do.

You might be more privileged than them. You might have regular access to a quarantined bubble community. You might be living in a slightly less locked down city. You might just naturally be better at isolation, or more mentally healthy in general. You might have more support.

And again, obviously lives are at stake here. Obviously the small chance of killing someone else isn't worth you not falling apart. But like... at some point you gotta admit that it's really hard, the consequences aren't obvious, and irresponsible choices don't make people evil.

Sure but like, if you want to spend a weekend inside a house with friends you probably aren't gonna wanna wear a mask the whole time. Or if you wanna eat dinner.

On one hand, spreading the disease is really bad, yes.
On the other, numbers like these are infinitely worse than Covid’s.
68% anxiety and depression rate requiring significant medical intervention.

Right. People are displaying varying degrees of “psychological immune response” to this situation. Ie their unconscious mind prevent them from facing the reality of the situation, because they are unable to handle it. Things are blurry enough that its easy to ditch rationality

Thats because govts dont really care about their people. Since the beginning its been a competition between to have the best 19 stats, the consequences be damned. They shouldve worked with ppl to do things safely vs harrass, fine, imprison, turn off utilities, etc.
