I truly don’t know why this concept is so hard for some to grasp, but test scores are NOT your whole application. Your background, experiences, essays, extracurriculars, and other parts of your application are just as important as your scores!!

.....idk what that you thought caps was gonna do for you but regardless, my point continues to be correct. Test scores are one part of your application, and I hope you bring this energy towards underqualified legacy students (often 20%-40% of the student population)

I literally don’t even know what that means but you seem to think every AfAm student gets in to these schools and also that AfAm as a whole need to lean on “African American” scores. Both are incorrect, both are racist, and you seem 12 anyway so I’ll end it here

Test scores are not the whole picture, of course But we can both agree that two people getting the same score on a test, but one having their grade bumped up bc of their race is wrong, can’t we?

Their grade isn’t “bumped up”, it’s adjusted for the fact that one student, because of their race, might not have had access to the same resources and privileges that the other student did, which makes their score more impressive since it was achieved in the face of adversity

Additionally, the way you all go on and on and about affirmative action, it would stand to reason that any black student can apply anywhere and get in with zero effort, and that’s obviously not the case. Implying that black students just stroll into these schools is ignorant

I understand that wanting to adjust for difficulty is important - but it can also be patronizing and reduce respect. I'm a woman and in tech sometimes I'm like "did they invite me cause i'm a woman", and I know everyone else thinks about that too. And sometimes it's true!
