Regularly, for years, I've wanted a good recommender algorithm for clothing brands - particularly smaller ones. It seems weird that this hasn't been done yet. I just wanna know what other brands people buy who also like Johnny Was and Etnodim!

Online ads are trying to be a universal recommender algorithm, right? What pops up if you browse what you like and turn off ad blocker?

I get ads for clothes often, but I've never seen ads for the two brands I listed above; they probably just aren't running ads on the platforms I see that are targeted at my demographic.

ThredUp sort of does this, but not reliably or consistently. If I search a brand I like and click on an item, at the bottom of the page it shows "brands similar to X" & "you may also like [similar items.]" It's super hit or miss but occasionally it leads to me finding new brands.
