When 'infected' people are mean to me i'm just like... i don't get it. I would *never* be that mean to them. I would never insult them for stating their opinions, I wouldn't kick them out of groups they kick me out of. There's some terrible asymmetry going on here.

Infected works as a criticism, but what label would be both descriptive and acceptable to those it applied to? I wish the term “cultural Marxist” wasn’t so loaded with right wing paranoia; it really feels accurate. Cultural Leninist, Maoist, Vangardist, or Blanquist also work.

Let's be honest, pretty much any label applied to a group of people by some one that isn't part of that group will carry some level of criticism. That said it's okay to be criticised and be critical at times because that's just how we are.

but "infected" is also a causal claim about transmission. if only mean-spirited people are "infected", that suggests nice idealists don't spread tendencies that turn mean-spirited in other hosts, which i think is false
