I guess I've just been "deplatformed". The organizers of this talk just told me they must cancel me as "Existing controversies over claims you made elsewhere were just brought to our attention." No more explanation of what claims or why they are a problem.

I'm sorry. This has only happened to me on a small scale and it was really hard. It's gotta really suck having this happen with something much bigger.

I misread. Still, I'm sorry. I hope they give a really good explanation. If they don't... then this happening inside the EA community is absolutely terrifying.
EA has no barriers to entry. Anyone can call themselves an EA. People will do bad shit, however you define bad shit, under the EA umbrella, sooner or later.

Yeah. I now expect this fracture point to schism EA. The autistic-ish, first principles, rationalist types will wave a flag for certain (extreme, to the general population) discourse norms, and cluster that steers more by social perception and aims for legitimacy...
