I've noticed too recently that I'm romantically attracted to extremism in people. I don't mean ideological, I mean it in the... weird sense? Like people who lie really far off a new bell curve, who have a bizarre brain, who are particularly distinctive. I'm into it.

You're a modern Moderns are all about extremes. Progress. Development forever. The Protestant hankering for absolute certainties. Straight lines to infinity. The concept of a virtuous mean between to vicious extremes is completely alien to moderns.

I guess I'm saying that you're not fully out of your Christian phase. And as some kind of Christian, I can confidently say that (popular) Christianity is the bentest thing and I haven't the faintest clue how it'll get straightened out.

In that case, more power to you :-) I think working one's way out of (popular & Protestant) Christianity is an extraordinarily rich vein of insights on modernity. It's like a camera obscura from which you can see the whole society all the way back to Ockham and Duns Scotus.
