I guess growing up in a developing country just drives home how much global wealth redistribution is needed in a way that growing up in a developed country doesn't. I wonder which donation ratio would maximize the dollars willingly donated.

Americans are number 2 in per capita income, behind Norway. The average per capita income is about $45K. Now at least half of Americans make more than that, therefore Americans are actually wealthier as a whole than the other 200+ countries in the world.
