We seem to designate “need” as a self-evident thing, but I don’t think it is. What degree of needs fulfilled? How high up Maslow’s heirachy are we going? Food/shelter/water? Does a grass hut meet the “shelter” need? There’s a lot more ambiguity here than I think most consider.

The $35K number is a bit misleading as a demarcation between the 1% and the 99% because it’s a per household per capita number. That's for each person living under the same roof, including children. (So a family of four, for example, needs to make $136,000.)

On the one hand, the similar splits for 'yes' and 'no' suggest your followers are impressively un-self-interested. On the other hand, what are the yes:press it people waiting for? Or are they only willing to sacrifice their wealth if everyone else does too?
