When I was 10, I went to a church-hosted all-girls sleepover. They did nail painting, popcorn eating, etc. But then they were gonna watch the Princess Diaries. I REALLY wanted to watch the Princess Diaries - but I knew probably my parents wouldn't approve. 1/

It was a secular movie with teen characters, something my parents tended to forbid me from watching. So I told the organizers I couldn't, that I would sit in a different room while all my friends watched the movie. They ended up calling my parents, who were probably impressed 2/

by other people witnessing their child's obedience, so they gave me permission. Later that year, at the AWANA awards, I won the clubber of the year trophy for being the most "godly child", and they cited the Princess Diaries example of the obedience they wanted all kids to have.
