if we're going by a standard of 'how aware/how much can it feel/think' to determine whether it's ok to kill a fetus, then we should be ok with killing kids up to 3 years old.
We kill pigs all the time, which seem to be about as mentally capable as a human 3-year-old.

The criterion also has unfortunate implications for people with disabilities.
Imagine you get hit in the head in a car accident and all of a sudden you have to play checkers against a pig to prove that you still have a right to live.

I think for all similar moral decisions, we should assume panpsychism is true and that the moral value of a consciousness scales positively with its intelligence.
