Do you have a sort of running gauge of who is 'out of your league', dating-wise? Like do you feel vaguely aware of who you could date and who you couldn't?

Usually yes, but if I can glean their personality a bit, there can be more of an assessment. Personality compatibility can often bridge attractiveness gaps, to a significant degree imo.
