I like my job, the pay is really good. But in exchange for this high pay is the constant low-level pressure of being the only person responsible for all of the decisions, for having no strategic help, for really high variance in income, for it being generally high risk.

It's definitely stressful. Sometimes I fantasize about taking a lower pay that's at least consistent and guaranteed, and how I could plan my life better and not have to deal with the emotional peaks and panicks that I do now.
Overall I still do prefer the high pay + stress, tho.

Invest the money in things that return more reliable dividends. Stock market averages around 8% and other investments like real estate are comparable. With your income you could have enough passive income to cover groceries and health insurance in just a few years. #DIYUBI

If you don't mind my asking (and i mean this non flippantly, genuinely curious), what makes it high risk, or i guess i should ask in what context do you mean high risk? I.e. physical bodily harm, etc?

Hire someone to help you. Part time. It is a good business expense to write off

Something that always gets left out of the "pay gap" debate is that there are downsides to earning a high salary, and avoiding those downsides is a valid choice.
