i just want a great 'home' on the internet where I feel like there's a baseline level of not-infected. I know there's small pockets that do this well but nothing big and central yet. It's gotta be only a matter of time before it rises up.

There have been lots of places like that before, they all get infected, to use your terminology. Tolerant, intelligent, reasonable discussion attracts intolerant, dumb, unreasonable people.

Sounds like you should make your own?
There're tools out there for it, and you've got the audience to kick-start the population. You could even clone Reddit (as of a few years ago).
