You can live for very little if you're careful. Of course, if you add on additional costs, the wage you need to survive increases. I always viewed "minimum wage" as the absolute minimum you need to survive. Of course it's not gonna be enough if you have more costs!

Should jobs that require more than minimum spending (education, dress code, etc.) then be required to pay more than minimum wage?
-
I mean tbf I think there shouldn't be any minimum wage requirements whatsoever.

I'm against minimum wage, but the point you're making always confused me. I was making six figures in the SF Bay area, and I've never had anything larger than a one bedroom apartment. Partly because that's what I could afford, but also that's all that I absolutely needed.

A home office would have been nice, but it wasn't worth the cost for me. And I was very far away from minimum wage.

I do think having kids should be part of the minimum though. Folks should be able to choose to have 1-2 children in their life time without worrying about sinking themselves in to total poverty. It's a basic thing. A minimum.

I see the minimum wage as establishing the floor for the quality of life for someone working in our society. I would like to see that floor as high as can be practically done.

So your rent/home payment is suggested to be 30% of what you make. Many apartments require that you make 2.5x - 3.5x your rent to even live there. There is NO minimum wage that can afford a 2 bedroom apartment in the US. 95% can't even get a 1 bedroom.https://www.businessinsider.com/full-time-minimum-wage-workers-cant-afford-rent-anywhere-us-2020-7 …

The amount unemployment is currently giving me is supposed to be what "minimum wage" is. Well I'm making 4x the amount of what my normal is on unemployment and I was full time at a childcare w/ seasonal job at a haunted house. I just want to pay rent, bills, eat, save a buck.
