Non-consensual inflicting pain on others is wrong. So No.

But it’s the universe that’s doing the inflicting. it’s already nonconsensual. You’re just protecting yourself.

Is the guilt of knowledge of the action, included in the 'negative consequences'?
'cause that's a big one, for me..

No because numerous novels have instructed me that in such a setup, it only gets worse if you do that.

No. Everything is here to teach us and learn how to create space for it. I've had pain that's 9.0 on the Richter Scale and I'm better for it. Healing it made me a more loving, gracious, compassionate and emotional mature person. My pain is now my ally.

Nay if random. No way. Might hit someone I love or someone less able to bear it.
Now if I could pick who to divert it to....

I'm stuck trying to answer this because my answer depends on the cause of this putative pain. Physical pain I'd take. Many kinds of emotional pain I'd take, too.
But if the cause of the pain is something bad happening to my sister or my dog, absolutely not.
