It’s not an abandonment of free speech. It’s accountability for violent and hateful speech. Say and/or do violent and hateful things? Get booted. Simple.

The problem isn't censorship. It's where the money backing Reddit is coming from and Reddit's lack of a viable profit generating strategy. An alternative, built sustainably, would be censorship resistant.

I'd like to think that this is part of the natural evolution of the net - like how I used to use/read Webcrawler, Something Awful, and The Drudge Report. But this doesn't feel like the creative Wild West net anymore. It feels like cable TV with the parental controls turned on.
-
Absolutely. I miss the good ol times of wild West net where everything was out of control and you could tell or find everything you wanted.

Also there is a quote i like that fits this that says "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" by Evelyn Beatrice Hall. 2/2
