I feel much less threatened when I get ratio'd by conservative people than when I do by progressives. I blocked almost nobody this last ratio, whereas time before that I blocked everyone. I'm not totally sure why; I think I imagine right-leaning people have less power to hurt me?

Because you feel contempt for the dumb conservatives (and the intellectual ones aren't the ones who attack you) but deep down in your heart you still respect progressives and feel some pain when they disapprove of you?

Maybe? Or something closer to the frame that the progressives feel closer to 'my people' culturally, and the conservatives are 'farther away'. There's something in here that feels distinctly like threat. I don't think I feel conservative-specific contempt at a cursory glance

I'll make a guess: when you were ~15-20y old, your viewpoint was roughly "the Blue Tribe is right and just and is the wave of the future, except maybe with the one flaw of not valuing free markets enough, but Reds are truly backward savages" Am I close?

Oh no, I was a fundamentalist evangelical homeschooled Christian living in Idaho. I was pretty red tribe.

I think that sounds right. Maybe the progressives are the likely ones to sound a voice of opposition, whereas the conservatives know their battle is farther removed. Progressives will know that you'll hear them, and maybe conservatives don't want to make the effort?
