confession: i lurk in christian-only communities online and when someone posts about doubting their faith or being in pain over what their faith requires them to do, i PM them sympathy and affirm their doubts

It sounds a lot more like you're actively looking for people to pull away because you're still hurt than help anyone else. If you are still hurt that's understandable because not everyone has a good experience, but obsessing over other people's faith just kinda sucks

Former Bible school alum here. Doubting your faith is a very lonely place. You can get arrested in your spiritual development without a safe outlet for skeptism and doubt. Many people might leave their faith, but I think just as many recommit to it on their own terms.

You don't actually know the situation these online people are in. This is 100% projection and you should address this unhealthy habit with a professional.

Many people are turned away from the faith as a result of having been raised in heretical or heterodox cults. If your only experience is with Protestant sects I would bear in mind that any scoundrel can set up a Protestant church to provide themselves a livelihood.
