I think one of my recurring questions re: the BLM stuff, is that support for what's going on is obviously coming from some deep lack of interest in truth or rigorous analysis. Is this a new thing, or has it always been there and is now just showing up?

What substantiates the claim that support for BLM (or adjacent events) is "coming from some deep lack of interest in truth or rigorous analysis"? A concrete example would be helpful -- without committing to agree or disagree, that claim is not obvious to me.

BLM has surpassed a certain threshold of societal momentum; now all sorts, both pro and anti, are trying to attach their baggage to it. Be careful about analysing this phenomena as a monolithic entity.

True - but the thing that feels concretely worrying are the changes things like large platforms or social media personalities are making. Reddit changed their terms of service where rules apply differently if you're a minority or a majority, for example.

I hear that. I feel the incentive to be seen to be "doing something" can be perverted in moments like these. A recent fav example: a golden girls episode being removed. I've seen a bunch of Black folk tweet sentiments like "Idgaf about a mud-mask! End qualified immunity!"

To me there is an infectious growth of hatred and fear in society, stunting empathy and sober thought. Every movement is affected, not just BLM. And as they do, infections spread the pathogen.
