I think one of my recurring questions re: the BLM stuff, is that support for what's going on is obviously coming from some deep lack of interest in truth or rigorous analysis. Is this a new thing, or has it always been there and is now just showing up?

But e.g., Scandinavian countries, which seem to be pretty rich, don't seem to be equivalently insane. Maybe the smaller size and relative homogeneity helps prevent internal conflict that serves as a seed for this sort of thing?

^ yep, inequality probably causes a kind of unique psychological harm to those on the bottom (not to understate the harm of absolute poverty, but it's a different kind of thing)

Only applicable if you can save money here then go to a poor country to spend it, but as 40% of US can’t afford an unexpected $400 bill it’s mainly useless.

I would say that here MOST people are working ever harder with ever less security for less pay off, even those too young to remember easier/less stressful times sense it, & no matter how hard one tries to ignore the ever growing surveillance state and the oncoming ecocatostrophe,

these things are in the back of everyone's head and freaking them out. And corporate media being unable to stop the freak out is directing it in a way they think is most harmless or even beneficial to them
