I defend JK Rowling and talk about trans women not being real women, but I want to clarify my full views here: Trans experiences are absolutely valid, I think transitioning is the best move for them, I think treating them as their preferred gender is a good idea, I think a lot-

of anti-trans fears (e.g., public toilets) is overblown due to the effects of estrogen on sex drive and behavior, and I think fully passing trans women are not really that meaningfully different than actual women and it doesn't make sense to make a big deal out of the difference.

I agree with the second tweet, not so much with the first. A lot of young "trans" people are psychologically vulnerable, are pressured into it, and regret it later. Their experiences are not valid, I do not think transitioning is good for them, and I condemn those responsible.

I forgot the percentage is of trans people who detransition. I think it's small? But regardless of how small it is, I agree that there do exist some people who become trans due to social pressure/incentive and regret it later.

Some (not all) trans activists want trans women to be treated as indistinguishable from natal women. All JK Rowling is saying is that women's sex-based rights are contingent on biological sex. Or in other words, you can't erase biological sex without affecting women's rights.

Think the fear is the bad exploiting the situation, the effects on female sports. The legit are not so much of an issue. It's anyone on any day can declare I'm a woman. Women have life experiences, just erasers them. On a whim. Breast cancer is a people's issues. No.

what if they are absolutely 100% not passing? I don't care either way, but I'm not a woman who is at risk of losing her spot on a team or a race to a transwoman.

Then why engage in the narcissism of small differences or stand on semantics when the stakes in this discussion are so much higher for trans folk than they are for you? Or if you believe that the stakes are equally high for you here, why do you believe that?
