Scott Alexander deleted slatestarcodex.com.
The NYT is planning to dox him, which is a terrible idea because of his medical practice and threats made on his life.
did you know about this? This lack of empathy or concern for safety is really disappointing.

If any of you don't know what SSC is, it's probably the best blog on the internet, featuring nuanced, skilled, and compassionate explorations of a wide variety of topics. It's loss is a serious tragedy and I am really angry at the reporter who forced him into this.

Every day I hope journalists will choose doing the right thing over activism and every day i'm disappointed

I was ready for the "let's all point and laugh at the rationality dweebs" piece
rationality/farnam/EA/lesswrong/SSC communities do invite ridicule. something about the earnest, cultish humorlessness
But I was not prepared for this. Just ... stupid. unprofessional.

Now now, let's not assume it was the reporter. Let's not assume that she lacked the HONESTY and INTEGRITY that a TRUE JOURNALIST would carry by LYING about their intent, then TAUNTING her subject with THREATS that could put them at risk of losing their job & perhaps their life.

I was not familiar before your tweet and was just about to go check out '"the best blog on the internet" until I got to "it's loss" and realized it was the one you tweeted about before I went to bed.
This is sad.

One of the voices we need most right now shut down. There are plenty of reasons actual names are left out and pseudonyms uses in articles. I don’t think it’s is a hit piece, just rules are rules applied thoughtlessly to destroy.

His piece on the in group versus the out group is the best explanation I've seen of the shit show that is our current divisive culture. Of course it's only gotten worse since he wrote it.
