For a long time I struggled with how to make sense of the long standing racial tensions. I didn't know how to *process* collective identity at all. I still kind of don't - collective identity feels really nonsensical to me. But it *is* a frame that other people are using, so

I tried to use my own frame (analogy of father-son) to help me make sense of how to process and respond to the feeling of collective identity (and injustice and healing).

In all fairness, you use it, too. Every time you post about prostitution, polyamory, or men's rights, your are voicing the grievances of a group to which you are at least somewhat sympathetic. We all feel at least a tinge of collective identity, bad as we think it is.
