I hate the protestor discourse. I don't trust them at all. They are religious, just under a different name. That being said, the pushing back of the police in Seattle is so wonderful it gives me goosebumps. I love the idea of more community control over their own safety.

Surely this is about different CHANNELS of control. The usual citizens voting for mayors who appoint police etc. is in fact a form of control.

This is true, but there seems to be a loss at how to enact deeper change? I don't know if it's accurate but the perception of being unable to change the deeper system through voting seems really important.

Oh yeah I strongly agree on that one. While fucking the police is inspiring I have very little faith in the protestors abiliy to make lasting positive changes
