I hate the protestor discourse. I don't trust them at all. They are religious, just under a different name. That being said, the pushing back of the police in Seattle is so wonderful it gives me goosebumps. I love the idea of more community control over their own safety.

We all love the idea of it. It's the reality of it that scares us. Real life dilemma: my office is in thwt zone. Should I go? If I'm asked if I agree with abolishing the police, am I free to disagree? If I'm asked for a contribution to the cause, am I safe to refuse?

Yeah historically the period after revolutions is not awesome and I am not very hopeful this will work out in a way that respects the rights of everyone

So basically your answer to what was asked is “you’re probably screwed.” Because he’s probably screwed and your response really glossed over the reality for him. It’s not an abstract future thing, it’s happening right now to people. Rights violatedmin the name of revolution.
