I really miss the days of random google hangouts. There are still random 1 on 1 chats, but I sometimes don't want that much pressure to keep conversation going. I'd rather join a video chat with 2-5 randoms and chime in as I feel inclined.

I said yes/no and I feel I ought to qualify that. I do not feel as though I can reach out to anyone and not be ignored. With you it may be different: you will not be ignored, but you may not get that connection you want either. Both suck, really, but I cannot say which is worse
