I have some low-key fury reserved for the men who tell me that I "don't need plastic surgery" when I know they prefer to look at pictures of (and date) the most beautiful women
Which is incredibly condescending, because she isn't insecure about her looks, which would be obvious if you listened to what she was saying rather than projecting your "how most women feel" template onto her.
Hence, fury
Pretty harsh response. It’s not unreasonable to assume that, if someone is considering plastic surgery then they must be at least a little bit dissatisfied with a part of their body.

She's doing it, in her own stated reasons, as a financial decision to help with her business. Insecurity doesn't play a part here, aside from possibly helping choose which body part to optimize. Any possible insecurity however is screened off by her 1/
stated reasons. Not listening to or not accepting those stated reasons is a pattern of men stepping over women, who refuse to believe the reason they're told is the "real" reason.
"But still there must be some underlying-" shut the FUCK up.
"Pretty harsh" I did say hot fury. 2/2
The plastic surgery being purely a business decision wasn’t in the original tweet, so without that context I wouldn’t say the guys assumption was “incredibly condescending” at all.
After all, insecurities are generally the biggest driver in plastic surgeries.
I don't see how my reasoning is categorically that different from insecurity. I also am fine with doing things to soothe insecurity. This one is just more acceptable because my insecurity is financial?
I don’t think it makes it any more/or less acceptable (if that’s even applicable).
Nobody else’s opinion really counts.
It’s just an unusual motivation that people wouldn’t necessarily assume without knowing you.
I’m not sure financial insecurity is in the same bracket though..
I think maybe my phrasing sounded harsher/judgier than it was meant to. A lot of what humans say is meant to assuage insecurities indirectly, so as to not put it out in the open. That's what i was trying to get at. Nothing wrong with wanting to look prettier, or make more money.
