How can I help someone who's obviously distraught and sobbing, but also detached from reality, having a psychotic or schizophrenic episode? Sometimes I want to help but I don't know what to do or what they need.

In this case, it was a woman who didn't look homeless; she was clean, had a little dog in clothes on a leash, and a purse next to her. She was also saying vaguely threatening things; yelling to 'leave her alone' and that someone needs to 'kill that bitch'
