actually i knew kids who cut themselves in my evangelical culture and people were way less concerned about it than they would have been cocaine use. Intense depression and grief was just 'your fault, buck it up' - but cocaine use was 'secular and bad'

Nah, you didn't, or if you oddly did your anecdote is highly unrepresentative. Evangelical culture takes cutting seriously, and sees it as very harmful and unhealthy, just as it does cocaine. Accurately on both counts (unlike your current, lesser culture).
