A huge problem when talking about law is that *cultural* law is super important. You can put different cultures into the same legal system and get wildly different results. Some cultures would do great if released from government; others would fall apart.

There is no one ideal legal system - there are different ideal legal systems depending on the norms of the group you're talking about.

its why NYC laws are a mess. most dont pass the literal rule anymore. if you are in nyc and feel like breaking a law on a Sunday, walk around with a ice cream cone in your pocket.

This also speaks to the fact that if you are going to be a multicultural society laws have to stay out of the culture business as much as possible

There IS an ideal legal system. Is it in practice? No. That's where the conversation would be fruitful. There are also legal systems that are definitely better than others & currently in practice.
