I'm watching Married At First Sight, a reality TV show where two strangers get married. It basically consists of two people triggering each others' insecurities and then handling it like war tanks set to reality TV sound effects while somehow making it work. It's incredible.

And the therapy on this show! At one point a woman was like "I feel really uncomfortable when my husband smothers me in constant compliments." And the therapist was like "Have you considered not being uncomfortable? Other people would love to be complimented, get over it"

I feel like I'm watching a template for how relationships are expected to play out for... is it normies? I want to know how wide the demographic is who watches this show. There's different strategies entirely for conflict resolution and it all feels a little uncomfortable.

I would say you are watching a template for maximum conflict to entertain an audience. I get so angry as a therapist seeing the shit those people "advise" on the show.
