"Hey I need a covid test before surgery, how much is it?"
"Don't worry, insurance will cover it"
"Oh no, I have @aboutKP, they said they wouldn't"
"Oh god Kaiser, yeah you're screwed. That'll be $190 please"
Now I've got -$190, a neg covid result, and a hunt for new insurance

I thought COVID testing was free due to the testing limitations? I know here in Missouri and Kansas, you can't get tested unless you are showing symptoms and are running a fever. And it is free of charge if they do test you.

I'm getting tested as part of a requirement to test negative before getting a surgery, not because I'm showing symptoms, and the surgery isn't medically necessary.

The final straw… that convinced you that Universal Healthcare was the way to go and to only vote for candidates who promise it, I hope…?

My patients (kaiser) routinely shell out hundreds of dollars in co-pay for lumbar MRI’s. Even with insurance, medical care can get quite (prohibitively) expensive once patients travel down diagnostic/treatment cascades
