She said "apparent birth gender" - as in, if you had to guess what gender they were assigned at birth. Your guess may not be right, but a perfectly androgynous person is very rare. Most people present more traits of one gender than the other, due to either biology or preference.

“Most people present more traits of one gender than the other”, yes, but not necessarily more of their birth gender. Apparent gender is basically clothes, hairstyle and facial hair. Shaven, most people could pass for any gender if they wished.
