I count it as a vote between Google and what I'm searching for. I have pretty positive feelings about Google compared to, say, my bank, airlines, etc. Unpaid link wins for eg local restaurants, but this comes up less often.

Not "typically," I -always--check and click the non-sponsored version. If I like them enough to visit their site, I like them enough to save them some ad spend.

I determine if I want to support Google or the advertiser. It used to be ~80% click on the ads to support Google; now about the reverse.
