There are so many more good viruses than bad ones. For example, Bacteriophages can be beneficial because kill bacteria.

Phages are a thing, as well as things like pegiviruses providing better immunity from more harmful viruses. But it's not even close to "so many more good than bad". The nuclear option proposed in the poll would still be a beneficial trade-off by a long shot.

Usually these things mess up ecosystems, but iirc viruses don't have predators or any other life form they interact with other than the hosts they attack. If someone knoss better though I'd be interested in hearing about it
