It's the future. In some cases, we can detect a fetus will be born deaf, and a simple shot administered to the mother (before birth) will fix this, with no side effects. Would you support a law that made it a legal requirement for mothers to receive this shot for deaf fetuses?

So tricky. Such a beautiful culture and language has grown up around deafness - but passively denying a child the joy of sounds feels wrong, maybe cruel

What if the injection could ensure deafness to perpetuate the culture?

Forcing it upon people is morally wrong but letting your child be deaf may also be morally wrong.

Exactly my stance. Voted no. I think the mother is morally obligated to get the shot. I think forcing the mother to get the shot is wrong. The moment we do, we have to ask "who chooses what is required and how is it determined" and it starts to get real messy real fast.

If something is good for people, you don't have to force it upon them. They'll choose it out of self-interest.
