Do you know anyone who's had an obvious "mental break" or "psychotic break"?

Yes. They progressed from normal to paranoid to depressed because they sent here by God to save the world. Completely fine once they got on the right medication.

Close friend. We used to do a lot of acid.
The way he behaved – sensationalising; being certain of things he had minimum info about; lying to create drama – reminds me precisely of the media.
It's like knowing the world through the lens of a psychotic.

I have never read a definition of a mental breakdown that was good enough for me to know one when I see it, either in fiction or real life. The concept is blurry to me. Unsure how to vote as a result.

My dad tried to kill himself over some debts and alcooholism by swallowing a bunch of pills in front of me and my mom. I've tried to stop him by showing my fingers in his mouth and he bit me really hard. Ahhhh......memories :)

I had a psychotic break when I was 17. Was hospiufor several weeks and then taken home by my father, probably sooner than I should’ve been taken out. Took me several years to return to sanity. Grateful for that, but sometimes I think I should be recommitted 😂
