One issue here is the nature of simulations. I suspect that
@eripsa might question the idea that one can have a detailed simulation and not end up with entities that perceive suffering. I picked my answer under the assumption that non-conscious accurate simulations can exist. -
I assume most people are only going to concern themselves with whether it's ethically OK to let people experience their room, not whether the simulation itself is ethically ok to build. However, to me this is a much more important aspect. "Westworld" is built on this btw...

IRL, they've found a correlation between rise in porn use and reduction in sexual assault. Assuming that correlation operates across a range of antisocial behaviors, although it feels creepy to do it, button 1 is ethical, harm reducing choice.

If I’m not mistaken I think some research to the contrary is present relating specifically to those antisocial behaviors. I’ll have to look, but girlfriend and I talked about this once and think we both landed here after seeing the data

I voted 1B, not because I believe the characters in the simulation are conscious, but because the experiences in the sim might train / desensitize the user in violent behavior, leading them to do these things in real life.

Synthetic fantasies that have no effect on the real world aren't anyone's concern. Not interested in policing thoughts so go wild. Plus, has no one ever thought about whether or not they could get away with a murder?
