I ask a lot of questions but don't go into my beliefs too often. Here's a summary of my positions on some controversial things: * worker's unions are probably bad * body dysphoria is real and trans people should be able to transition as treatment *stereotypes are based on truth

I mean there's loads to go through but chronologically I guess, by body dysphoria being 'real' what do you mean? And do you mean you think it is a mental illness?

As in, body dysphoria is an actual thing that people have. I sort of don't care if we call it a mental illness or not? That seems really irrelevant to me. We're discussing the thing itself, not the label.

I think it's crucial, because you have to ascertain why someone thinks they have the wrong body, and if it is a mental illness, is that temporary or not. Especially younger people. I use a desert Island analogy sometimes. No one born alone on a desert island would be trans.

oh yeah when it comes to "do we treat your dysphoria before/during puberty" I think that's one of the hardest questions out there and I don't think there's a good answer. You sort of have to pick one and pray you made the right decision.

But that's why I think the crux of it is a mental illness or not is vital. I would firmly suggest maintaining the physical body you're born in should be the default. This is not an attack, I just mean some things need fixing some don't. Is body dysphoria in the, needs fixing cat

Me too, but I think that should be on the recommendation of physical and mental health professionals. The wider issues of trans right etc is a different debate which I don't think you even alluded to so we shan't go into! Thanks
