Have had that. It's supposed to be from subconsciously swallowing excess air. Can be a sign of hyperventilation syndrome.

As a poker player a noticed a certain subset of the population would yawn when nervous (or as I deduced were deceptively presenting their hand with a bluff). Maybe 10-15% of people would do this

Ive played poker for many years and a claim that over 10% yawn when nervous is one of the most bullshit things ive heard. At best by enormous coincidence a few at your tables do. More likely just bad extrapolation from seeing one two people yawn and coming to a wrong conclusion.

Yes. It's a common effect. If you're hyperventilating you might be experiencing aerophagia. Not to mention, anxiety will activate the flight response which should cause your digestive system to go into overdrive.
