I don't understand why inequality is inherently bad. It seems fine to me. Force is bad, and sometimes inequality is created through force - but inequality is not *in and of itself* bad. I often (not always) interpret people who dislike inequality as envious and dissatisfied.

So starving. Are you okay with a society in which people, including yourself, may regularly starve to death?
-
Why do we need to fix inequality to make the lowest rank better off? Can’t we make the lowest rank richer by other means?

It sounds like Aella is talking about inequality of outcome, and Mark about an inequality of circumstance, specifically one borne through force (slavery).
-
How is outcome different than circumstance at any given point? At point X, I am a CEO, the circumstance is CEO, and the outcome of my life is CEO. Slavery is the example, extreme poverty, caste, proletariat, are readily substituted categories.

Why didn’t you keep going hungry? Maybe those people, instead of being envious, don’t wanna go hungry either...?
