Whenever I hear people saying they have a "right to free x service" I imagine them holding a gun to the person who has to do the work to provide them that service.
Often can talk a big game about the “violence underlying capitalism” but don’t respect autonomy well enough to grasp that someone has to do the work to make [ nice thing ]
Everyone should have enough to eat, yes, but should farmers break their backs for nothing?
The thing you need to realize is that our western society has been producing much more than enough to eat for the last half century. Everybody should have enough to eat, and farmers should be thanked for their effort with access to luxury beyond the bare necessary.
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the economy; it's placing a value/virtue system of the way things 'should work' onto how things actually do work.
People get paid for the value they create, not paid because they provide essential services.
Another common mistake is to believe that the economy is a goal in itself, instead of what it is: a tool to ensure that people live in comfort. Some people believe that The Market is always right, just like some other people believe that Nature is always right. Neither are true.
