Just got off a phone interview with a psychiatrist to discuss me having autism. It was terrible. He assumed a lot about me and kept getting hung up on "You had a traumatic childhood and now you're a sex worker". Does anyone have recs for sexworker-friendly psychiatrists?

I've noticed that as a general trend with doctors. A lot of them will, a few minutes in, decide that I have X and that's it - they're just waiting for me to stop talking so that they can wrap up and go to the next patient. :/

My uncle’s long time partner is very much this way. She was kinder with me and my mother for familial relations, but she is of that portion in the medical community who sees patients as cattle to create personal wealth.

How many psychologists are just simplifying the world into a few buckets and doing k-nearest-neighbors? If you see a specialist, the buckets might be more fine grained, but span less of the space.

https://swopusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Finding-a-sex-worker-affirmative-therapist-1.pdf … I’ve heard good things about this organization. This is a link to a pdf guide in find SW friendly therapists. They might be able to refer you as well.

ive noticed lot of therapists do this sort of thing. they make a judgement sort of fit you into a prototypical bucket/example of a patient or assume a lot. i figure a lot has to do with balancing your time giving info abt life and their time giving advice...

I'm not a woman or a sex worker, but if you're anything like me you'll find it more and more shocking just how shallow most educated professionals' reasoning is.

But we must follow "science" and the experts!

I have been in therapy with two different doctors and I have never heard this sort of thing done on the phone. He would have scheduled you into the office. He also would have let you speak more thoroughly about your situation and history. This guy was not proper IMHO.

I'm 39 and just found out I have autism a few months ago. It's an uphill climb getting that diagnosis. It was a relief getting it though. I'm on the wrong coast to be of any real help to you, but I wish you luck and a supportive community.
