theoretically I bet it's possible at about 5,000 if you're really skilled at doing it, but in practice probably 10-20k for most people
it's not really the follower count that matters so much as the rate at which people cite you, quote-tweet you, repost and reference your stuff

I think of this at 100k. I wonder if people's perception of public figure level is a multiplier of their own follower count.
there are also many different levels of publics
when I say 5k I'm talking about the "point of entry" at which someone can enter the game; minimum viable public figure
if you're talking A-list global public celebrities, it's like in the 1m ballpark
