My biggest gripe with LessWrong culture is its almost universal humorlessness. It's shocking how few jokes Rationalists make, and how many they don't get. You don't see this critique made often because the only people stodgier than rats are those who hate and sneer at them.

This is incredibly true. Painfully true. I love the rationalists so much it is almost physically painful because my chest is exploding with warm affection, but also I think this is part of why I'm trying to move out of my rationalist group house. I miss intense cackling laughter.
I was just watching a home video of my old group house. I was on acid and my two roommates were filming me from across the room and just cackling and snorting at my face making concentrated thinking and wonderment expressions. I miss that.

Rationalists are too serious. I used to consider myself one even before getting acquainted with most of their material. Realized they have good ideas but adhering to them as a guiding principle does not jive with my being
