When people view me as a girl and don't know me, they're missing a huge amount about who I am. Is this the sort of thing that nonbinary people are trying to fix?

gender is an incredibly significant cultural shibboleth, and one where a *lot* of people enforce their expectations as normative, instead of just being predictive - being a category violation of gender is (I suspect) something most trans and nb people have trauma from.

I do also think like, trans and nb people can be mistaken about their self classification? introspection can be hard, and gendered expectations vary a lot culture to culture - growing up afab in an Evangelical cult is very different than being afab in a liberal college city
